From Dr. Madison Oak

Hey, Dr. Madison, PT here! I have hand-picked each of these products for The Dizzy Box! Let me tell you a little bit about why!

First, the Roller Rescue roller ball. This little stick can be rubbed on your neck, back, traps, occipitals, temples, literally anywhere. But this really gets two birds with one stone! I love to use this on high nausea days - it happens to the best of us - but when the nausea gets tough, the smell of eucalyptus, mint, and rosemary really does a wonderful job cooling me down and helping with the symptoms! I also love to use this for a quick way to ground myself back to my body. If you feel like you’re out of your body and need a nice way to ‘come back,’ an all natural essential oil can be key!

I chose the Magic Mist shower steamers for a very specific reason! At least once a week I get a message, email or DM, asking me why the shower is so hard for vestibular warriors, and how to make it easier! My two biggest tips are to take your time, modify, and adapt while working on strengthening these skills to shower easily again and to make it a calm environment. When your head hurts, you’re feeling dizzy, and you want a warm shower to actually feel good, pop in a shower steamer to the back of your shower and make it a calmer experience.

The Minty Mellow magnesium balm is one of my absolute favorites. I use it for EVERYTHING! We know that magnesium is SO calming and so relaxing. It helps reduce migraine attack frequency and intensity, relax muscles, helps you sleep, and more! You may need more magnesium in your life than this rub alone, but the way this rub smells and how it makes me feel calm is so wonderful! I use this for everything from sore muscles or a stiff neck, to period cramps! it’s my go-to balm!

Reset and Refresh is such a wonderful room and linen spray! I am all about getting unscented everything and taking out smells from my house. But this essential oil spray is where I draw the line! I LOVE this spray!  I know exactly where it’s from and it calms me down after a long day on my pillow case. Whether you’re working on lying flat, or trying to get a more solidified bedtime routine, this spray is here to help create a calm environment!

About Dr. Madison Oak

Dr. Madison Oak is a physical therapist who specializes in treatment of Vestibular Migraine, Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness, and other vestibular disorders. Madison is the founder of Vestibular Group Fit, @thevertigodoctor, and Oak Physical Therapy & Wellness. Madison strives to provide excellent, evidence based, vestibular resources that are thorough, helpful, and actually make sense to people who have vestibular disorders.

Migraine and dizziness disorders affect SO many people in the US and the world. Madison’s journey began when she was working in an NYC outpatient Physical Therapy clinic. The day she saw an incredibly nervous, acutely dizzy, Manhattan bus driver who had been waiting months for treatment, followed by a chronically dizzy concierge home visit patient, she realized that many people who need vestibular care cannot always access the care they need. There is not enough information about dizziness, why we get dizzy, and how to treat dizziness. It’s simple, but it feels so scary and complex when you’re actually dizzy. So, she started @TheVertigoDoctor on Instagram, a telehealth clinic in 8 states addressing only vestibular disorders, and Vestibular Group Fit. Between these three, there are accessible resources for all of those who live with vestibular disorders no matter your specific situation!

When she isn't talking about the vestibular system, you can find Madison out skiing in Jackson Hole, baking chocolate chip banana bread, and hanging out with her dog, Hugo.
